About

This is me

Nelleke Wensing-Bisseling, a graphic artist and maker at the intersection of digital and print. I grew up surrounded by print and design. My parents owned a renowned printing and reprographic company, and my father was a graphic artist. After secondary school, I studied graphic design and began my career as a graphic designer, learning firsthand how materials behave and what makes a composition truly work. That foundation still guides everything I create.

Process

My process often begins digitally. I work with my own photography, digital tools, and sometimes AI to explore new directions. What starts on a screen always returns to the physical, where ink meets paper and control gives way to something unexpected.

I create monotypes using a gelli plate, each piece one of a kind. I am drawn to kraft paper and cardboard for their raw, transient quality. By combining traditional printmaking with digital elements and touches of gold foil, I build layered compositions where light, texture, and contrast come together.

My work is influenced by street art, pop art, and a strong sense of color. I look for clarity in composition, while allowing space for tension, movement, and imperfection. That balance keeps the work alive.

Why I Create

Six years ago, I shifted into mental healthcare, where I work as an activity counselor in a reprographic environment, supporting people with severe mental health challenges. It is grounding work. Art remains my space for freedom, curiosity, and at times simply a way to step outside of everything for a while.

I am now taking the step to further develop my practice and share it more widely. My work has reached over a million views worldwide, and I continue to explore where digital and handmade meet. If my work makes someone pause, feel something, or even just smile, then it has done what it was meant to do. And yes, I tend to smile quite a lot myself.

Thank you for visiting my page. I hope you enjoy exploring my work.
